With its rich history as a temple town, Gobo has an unusually large number of festivals, many which are famous throughout the country.

Gobo Festival

The biggest festival of the year is the Gobo Festival held annually at Shino Hachiman Shrine. It is a particularly colorful festival and one that draws people from all over who come to witness the famous Kehon folk dances and the wonderful traditional street parades highlighted by the Yotsudaiko float on which children play traditional taiko drums while being carried though the streets. In fact, the local folk say, "if you want to see a crowd, go to the Gobo Festival."
